The bird kabob was a big hit with my parakeets. It wasn't "discovered" for a couple weeks but once it was, the female especially spent hours just pecking away at the kabob. It is a safe, shreddable material so she managed to hollow out the whole thing. Of course, you are left with the remains on the floor of the cage to clean up--but it was worth it to see her have such fun with it. We just purchased our second one.

Despite the mess thank you bird kabob. This chew toy has saved my window trim!!! One of these lasts my sun conure about a month there are others in the market but this one seems to last the longest. I would recommend this to anyone who has a chewing bird. My nella loves it!!!

"It is safe to say that my parakeets become obsessed when this toy is in the cages, which is always. They have hollowed out 3 now and show no signs of slowing down. They love it! It is one thing my birds do not go without. They chew on it all the time and use it to scratch their heads now and again. It is a good one I would tell anyone to get the parakeet. This is one of the best bird toys out there. Safe and plenty of fun to rip to shreds. You will have to vacuum after your bird is done. The only problem is that bigger birds will be able to shred it down to nothing in very little time. My sun conure can demolish one in a few hours. Great for long days at work.

When we brought our baby conure home, she didn't really know how to "play" with toys - but this is the first one she attacked and has now whittled down to mere wooden husks. A long-lasting toy, thus far...., October 3, 2006

"I'll be honest, I thought this toy looked a little boring - but it also looked like a good sturdy chewing toy. I put this toy in our Grey's cage about four days ago. Unlike most toys, which get circled warily and eyed suspiciously for about a day, he didn't touch it for two or three. Then yesterday, he started gnawing at it, and seems to like it (although it isn't interesting enough to keep him away from his favorite barrel-shaped bell with the clapper he can't dig out). He also likes to grab it and flip it around, and scold it when it smacks the bars of the cage.

Gonzo isn't really a chewing parrot, unless he gets obsessed and intent on destroying a toy, so I see this toy lasting awhile! Once this one is gone, I will definitely order another!

I never give parrot toys five stars for safety. If you own a parrot, you know, there is no such thing as a perfectly safe toy. I will say, though, that this toy does appear to have less risk of injury (caught toes or tangled birdie), than many other great parrot toys out there!

I do give this toy 5 stars for *my* overall satisfaction in finding a toy that engages Gonzo, and yet will last more than a week!"
